Apple has found you a new roommate, and her name is Siri.

Later this fall Apple plans to release its home app as part of its new operating system. The company hopes to have customers walk in their door, announce to Siri you're home and automatically your lights turn on and your TV comes on; or whatever settings you prefer.

This is not the first time Apple has tried to move in. In 2014 it introduced home kit but soon discovered one major flaw. The device would not talk to all the separate devices around your home. So if you had a certain type of lightbulb or thermostat it wasn't able to connect with it.  read more »

Siri Revealed

One of the most important people in your life; is now being revealed.

Late last week the woman who runs your day to day life revealed herself. Her name is Susan Bennett and in 2005 she recorded the voice tracks for what Apple now lovingly refers to as Siri.

In an interview with CNN Bennett said she first started doing voice work for automated systems in the 1970's. Her first job was that of Tilly; the first ATM. She has also lent her voice talents to GPS devices, automated telephone systems and Delta airlines. Bennett says when she recorded the tracks she had no idea they would later become the personal assistant for the iPhone 4S.  read more »

Facebook's New Friend

Facebook is losing friends on the stock market; now it’s hoping a slice of Apple will change that.

Since it went public Facebook’s stock has dropped to under $30 a share. This is down almost 25% from its initial public offering. So to help give the social site a boost apple is building Facebook into its iPhone and iPad software. The announcement was made earlier this week at the Apple developer’s conference in San Francisco.

With the next version of this software users will be able to update their Facebook friends on their every move by talking directly to their phones. The new operating system will also allow people to “like” various movies and apps in the iTunes store.  read more »
