Cell Phone Addiction


Constantly connected to your cell phone; you might be one screen swipe away from rehab.

Researchers at the University of Washington say they noticed an extreme increase on the frequency and amount of time people spend on their phones. So much so that they say cell phone use is becoming an addiction and can make you anti-social, stressed and anxious. Traits usually attributed to people addicted to drugs or alcohol.

According to the study there are four warning signs you should watch out for in yourself and friends and family. For example; anticipation. Researchers say it's a problem if you are constantly thinking about the calls or messages you might receive before they even happen.  read more »

Internet Addicts


The world is at our fingertips; and some people just can't put it down.

Thanks to the increase of smartphones, hand held tablets and an app for everything people can't get away from the internet. So for people looking to unplug; there are clinics for that.

The latest center to treat internet addicts is opening this week in Bradford, Pennsylvania. Dr. Kimberly Young will head the new program and says since 1994 she has privately treated people who can't control their online activity. Dr. Young says Americans are just starting to realize the problem with spending hours in front of a glowing screen but South Korea and China are leaders in the treatment field.  read more »
