Disney's Bottom Line


The happiest place on earth is getting a little more magical.

For the first time in more than a decade, attendance is down at 13 out of 14 Disney parks because of rising costs. Bad weather, terrorist fears and overcrowding are also contributing to a drop in the number of people lining up to spend time with mickey and his friends. So at the recent D3 Expo in Anaheim the Walt Disney Company announced major changes designed around Disney characters and movies to bring people back to the parks.  read more »

Disney After Dark


Once again Disney World is going dark, and it’s hoping the second time is the charm.

At the beginning of the year Disney World launched a new event called Disney After Hours which allowed access to more than two dozen attractions for three hours after the park closed. Tickets cost just under $150 each but after seven consecutive nights of low attendance the event came to a quiet end.

Now the park is trying again with Disney After Dark. A three hour, after hour’s event that will be held on select nights beginning early next year. Ticket prices have also dropped $30 which park officials hope will give the event a better chance of succeeding.  read more »

Turns out the happiest place on earth might not be very friendly for employees.

Over the past couple week’s employees at Disney theme parks have been sharing some of their backstage secrets. And it turns out, the magic kingdom might not be all rainbows and butterflies. Disneyland Weddings


The happiest day of your life is getting a little more cheerful.

Disneyland has announced that couple’s ready to tie the knot can now get married right in front of Cinderella’s castle at the Florida park. And that's not all, the bride can really get in touch with her inner princess by arriving at the ceremony in Cinderella’s pumpkin coach. On top of that Disney is throwing in official Disney photographers to capture all the moments of your special day.

But there is a dress code, Disney says while it's happy to open up its most popular backdrop for weddings the bride, groom and the wedding party should be dressed to impress. Disneyland Prces


Happiness just got a little more expensive.

Disneyland has just announced big increases to its ticket prices. These follow massive upgrades that were made to the parks during the recession. The price of the popular one day parkhopper tickets which allow you to bounce from Disneyland and Disney California Adventure rose 9.5% to $150. And the price to visit just one of the parks rose 4.3% to $96.

And Disney is confident that despite the increase people will keep shelling out to visit the parks. Right now Disneyland is the second most popular theme park in the world; second only to Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Florida. Thanks to numerous additions Disney California Adventure is now the 11th most popular theme park with 7.8 million visitors a year.  read more »
