Presidential Down Time
Everyone needs a little down time; but if you’re the leader of the free world it could be hard to come by.
Over the course of his two terms in the White House President Obama has started to look his age, or even a few years past it. Understandable when you consider he’s running the entire country during years that have included war, recession and terror threats. So how does our commander in chief take advantage of the few vacation days he manages to squeeze in?
First up is family time. The president has nightly dinners with his wife and daughters in the private dining room. He also tries to get away from the job by watching things other than political news; most days that’s ESPN. And if he’s not watching sports, he’s playing them. As of mid-October President Obama had played at least 200 rounds of golf since taking office. And often joining him on the green is a collection of friends who the white house does not normally name.
Everyone deserves time away from the office, even if that office is oval.
