High Price Spirits

You can sell almost anything on the internet. But making money off of someon’e soul may be a first.

At a recent online auction a woman in New Zealand made history by auctioning off what she claims to be the disgruntled souls of two people that were haunting her home. The spirits were put up for bidding earlier this week by Avie Woodbury in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Woodbury says the spirits of an old man who lived in her home in the 1920’s and a disruptive little girl were captured through an exorcism and stored in glass vials with stoppers and dipped in holy water. Woodbury says the holy water dulls the spiritual energy, but it didn’t dull their net worth. The two vials eventually sold for about $2,000. The auction attracted more than 200,000 page views before the winning bid was cast. Woodbury says that once the fee for the exorcism has been deducted, the proceeds from the ghoulish auction will go to the society for the prevention of cruelty to animals. I guess showman PT Barnum was right to say you can indeed fool some of the people all of the time.
