High Expectations

The world's tallest building recently opened in Dubai, and officials hope the landmark will help boost the countries struggling economy. If they can afford to clean the windows.

Australian based company Cox Gomyl has been hired to design and install window cleaning carousals for the buildings 24,000 windows. Window cleaning carousals that cost $7.3 million. Twelve machines will carry the brave window washers up and down the building as they tackle the three month process of cleaning the 2,700 foot tall monster.

Dale Harding is the CEO of Cox Gomyl and says the company has been working overtime to get the equipment ready and the building clean for the opening ceremony that took place this past Monday. Harding says the Burj is an iconic building with high exposure. Harding says people have been focusing on just the height of the building but the sheer size of it is really something to behold. Roughly the size of 10-15 conventional buildings, the Burj cost about $1.5 billion and will be used for office space and residences. Before the Burj the Great Pyramid of Giza was the tallest structure in the Middle East, but I bet it's still the cheapest.
